Bennekerry National School
An awards ceremony was held in Bennekerry National School for the presentation of the Crest Awards.
This is the only primary school which took part in the Awards.
Nine students in total were presented with Bronze awards.

Nutrition and Exercise
A training course was run for a local community group with disabilities called the Delta Centre in Carlow. A nutrition and exercise programme was run over a 6 week period which finished on the 20th March 2007.

A total of 166 children attend the flight and media workshops which was a huge success.

Incubation Centre and Interseed
The new Incubation Centre and InterSEED had a joint stand promoting
science and technology at the 75th National Ploughing Champsionships and
2006 World Ploughing Contest. This was attended by attended by over 200,000 people over 4 days from the 27th September to the 30th September 2006

U3A 2nd November 2006 Workshop
Members of the scitech group assesed Merlin's Brook for the presence of coliform bacteria, nitrate and oxygen levels. They also took a kick sample of invertebrate and used microscopes to ascertain biotic index. |  |
Forensic Workshops In Ireland
As part of Science Week Ireland in November 2004 the Darwin Festival team travelled to Carlow to deliver a series of forensic workshops. |  |
Starlight Workshop
All of astronomy is based on unlocking the secrets of the stars by splitting the starlight into its colours.
White light is made up of a spectrum of colours. In this workshop those taking part were able to look at the rainbow of colours found in white light by making a spectroscope. Afterwards the students were then able to make a Newton’s colour Disc, using the rainbow colours of the spectrum to make white light.

GFP Workshop
Green Flourescent Protein is extracted from jellyfish and is revolutionising cell biology. During the 2005 Darwin Festival week of events scientists from IT Carlow travelled to Pembrokeshire to assist in running a workshop looking at GFP and its commercial applications. |  |
